The BEAJs’ executive committee has set a tentative date of Annual Picnic 2010 on 19th February 2010, Friday. We are searching for a suitable venue and will let you know shortly. We are planning to make this picnic quite different from the traditional. There will be less emphasis on cooking the meals by us– we are planning for using catering services food and drinks. The tentative program includes the following: - Guest speaker
- Panel discussion
- Children’s sports and cultural activities
- Adult sports and activities
- Women’s activities- (‘Pitha’ competition- for example)

As per the decision of BEAJs’Executive Committee Meeting, a Family Get-together will be held on Thursday 12th November 2009 from 7:00 pm to 12:00 midnight. To bring a change to our usual food menu and party venue, this time we have selected a new place in a Community Center. The Venue: Mujhela Community Center ( PLEASE CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE MAP ) Meena Road, Jeddah (Before IDB H/Q Building and Opposite to Khozam Park water tank) Food Menu: Arabian Food Drinks – Pepsi /Coca cola Fruits Guests are welcome in the Party The approx. subscription for an adult will be SR. 40 – 45 All BEAJ members are requested to participate in the Party. Please confirm your participation with BEAJ Executive Committee Member to make our arrangement successful. We are hopeful; the new place will be very enjoyable to everybody. Engr. The 6th Election of BEA, Jeddah Executive Committee took place on Thursday, 21st May’09. The Election was conducted by the Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Sulaimanul Mahdi. Date: 9th July, 2009-07-06 Time: 7:45 p.m Venue: Residence of Engr. Abdul Momen Khan The First meeting of the 6th Elected Executive Committee of BEAJ together with Ex-committee members was held on 9th July Thursday, at 7:45 p.m at the residence of Engr. Abdul Momen Khan, Nuzla, Jeddah. The meeting was presided over by the President and it started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. After detail discussions on different agenda, the following Resolutions were adapted unanimously. 1. A special meeting should be arranged to chalk out plan for Broad Scale Seminar, after Haj 2009. 2. Prepare a Database of High Level Bangladeshi working in Jeddah and its neighborhood. Engr. Nezamul Hasan will work for it in coordination with Engr. Abdul Momen Khan and Engr. Mohd. Abu Farooque 3. Brain storming session will be arranged with all engineers and Top ranking Bangladeshi after Ramadan in Eid-Reunion party. |

Karim, (Ph.D.) who is the Vice President for Research at Old Dominion University, Virginia, USA.Please find below summary information about our distinguish speaker. Nezam ----------------------------------------------- Mohammad Ataul KarimMohammad Karim is Vice-President for Research at the Old Dominion University in Virginia. He is responsible for managing ODU’s research portfolio that incurs over $65M in annual R&D expenditures and involves six colleges, over 700 faculty members, and over 7000 graduate students. Prior to his current position, Karim served as Dean of Engineering at the City University of New York. He is author of 10 text and reference books, over 325 research papers, 6 book chapters, 10 book reviews, 2 US patents, and of numerous technical reports. Karim is North American Editor of Optics and Laser Technology, an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions of Education, a Member of the Editorial Boards of Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, and International Journal of Science and Technology. Professor Karim served as guest editor of 16 journal special issues and as research mentor of over 55 MS/PhD. students. He is an elected fellow of the Optical Society of America, the Society of Photo-Instrumentation Engineers, the Institute of Physics, the Institution of Engineering & Technology, and Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, and a distinguished fellow of the University of Alabama and the Independent University of Bangladesh. VP Karim received his BS in physics from Dhaka University in 1976, and MS in physics, MS in electrical engineering, and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama respectively in 1978, 1979, and 1981. |

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk for the entire month, an act that brings joy and contentment to every Muslim who experiences the practice. We pray that this blessed month brings divine blessings to all of us.
This year, Muslims celebrate the month of fasting during some very challenging times. Islam and Muslims are under microscopic investigation. Every day new terms are coined to describe Islam. Sometimes, the believing Muslims are described as radical Islamists and Islamo-fascists. Often, our faith is linked with terror and we are accused of crimes that we ourselves discover when we open the front page of newspapers. |
